Common name: Queensland Bottle Tree
                                               
Special Notes: The Queensland Bottle Tree is a very unusual semi-evergreen tree from Australia with a distinctive, bottle-shaped swollen pachycaul trunk.  As the tree grows the stem swells as it stores water and becomes bottle shaped. It grows to 60’ in native habitat but closer to 30’ in cultivation. Leaves drop in winter before cream and red flowers appear in spring.
